The wet season occurs from November to April where high temperatures and humidity bring heavy rainfall throughout the region. January is the rainiest month averaging 333m of rainfall. Rain falls in the form of short downpours and thunderstorms which are intense, but usually pass quickly. During the wet season, the seas are rougher and bring strong swells. Perfect for experienced surfers, the weather can produce powerful swells during this season. The ocean is warm enough to swim all year round, however visitors should take care during the wet seasons. During this time, Samoa is also prone to typhoons, particularly from January to March.
