The wet season occurs from November to April where higher temperatures and humidity bring heavier rainfalls throughout the region. January is often the rainiest month experiencing short downpours and thunderstorms which often pass quickly but can also result in rougher seas and stronger swells. Perfect for experienced surfers! The ocean is invitingly warm enough to swim all year round, however visitors should take care during the wet seasons.
Samoa has surf all year round, with the dry season bringing south-east trade winds and big swells of up to 10ft. The wet season brings north-east trade winds and the swell drops to a more comfortable size of 2-5ft.
