Peak & Off Peak Season

Flights and accommodation tend to be the most expensive between July and September thanks to the favourable weather conditions enjoying sunny days and low levels of humidity. If you're looking to visit Samoa during peak season, we recommend booking at least six months in advance to get the best holiday deals and value for money. Between the months of December and January, many Samoans living abroad return home for the holidays, so the island can be slightly busier during these times. Off peak season usually occurs between February and March where Samoa receives the heaviest rainfall.

Samoa's climate can be characterised as tropical with high temperatures and high levels of humidity throughout most of the year. The Summer season falls between November and February, while the Winter lasts from April to September. Summer also coincides with the rainy season throughout November to April where heavy rainfall dominates the region. During this time Samoa is also prone to typhoons, particularly from late January to mid-March.

Surfing & Beaches

Thanks to its favourable position in the South Pacific Ocean, Samoa receives excellent surfing conditions all year round. Southeast trade winds during the dry season in May to October bring strong swells of up to 10ft. In contrast, the wet season from November to April brings smaller swells of up to 5ft. Samoa's beaches are at their best during the peak season from July to September where the dry season brings milder temperatures and less humidity.
