Located amid the 74 spectacular Whitsunday Islands, Daydream Island is a popular holiday destination on the World Heritage listed Great Barrier Reef. Home to the amazing Living Reef, the only one of its kind in Australia and the largest in the world, this man-made open air lagoon is an introduction to the tropical fish and other interesting marine life, such as sharks and manta rays, that you'll find on a Daydream Island diving adventure. With no suitable dive sites located close to the island, those wanting to experience Daydream Island diving can take a number of tours that depart Daydream Island and will deliver them right out onto the famous Great Barrier Reef.
One of the Seven Wonders of the World, the Great Barrier Reef is a popular diving spot for divers from all over the world and whether it's your first dive or your hundred and first dive, there's sure to be something to take your breath away. Qualified divers are on hand to help guide first time divers through the process while gear is available for qualified divers to go out and explore. An unforgettable experience, many first time divers get the bug and can't wait for their next dive. For those staying on Daydream Island, they can actually take part in becoming a certified diver thanks to a three day course available to be completed while staying on the island.
The three day open water course will teach you everything you need to know to obtain your internationally recognised Open Water Dive Certificate. You may start the course on any day, dependent upon the weather and all equipment and course material is supplied, including optical masks if necessary. Recognised internationally via Scuba Schools International, the course includes a minimum of six dives and can also be upgraded to include time on Knuckle Reef Pontoon on the Great Barrier Reef with Cruise Whitsundays Seafllight.
Meals, transfers to Abel Point Marina and a dive medical certificate are not included in the course. All students require a Dive Medical Certificate from a physician prior to commencing the course and students under the age of 18 years require written consent from their parent or guardian. The theory component of the course is also available to be completed online prior to arriving at Daydream Island.
