The Gold Coast is renowned for its near perfect weather year round. There is really no 'bad' time to visit adding to its popularity as a holiday destination. Winters are mild and although the climate in summer can be hot, the breezes that blow off the sea offer a refreshing and welcome cool. Days are consistently sunny and the water temperature remains steady making it ideal for swimming, surfing and a range of other water activities.
With a reputation for some of the best weather in the world, the Gold Coast combines a picturesque location with its fantastic range of natural attractions to make it a must-visit destination on any Queensland holiday. In summer, the temperature ranges from 19 degrees Celsius to 29 degrees Celsius and although winter is a little cooler, the climate still offers comfortable temperatures between 9 degrees Celsius and 21 degrees Celsius.
Due to almost constant sunshine and the hotter temperatures of summer, the chance of sunburn is quite high. Direct sunlight as well as glare from the sand or water can cause painful skin burns and it is recommended that visitors drink plenty of water, apply sunscreen regularly and protect their skin from the sun with hats, sunglasses and clothing.
Despite the regularly sunny weather, the Gold Coast does of course experience some rainfall throughout the year however these showers are scattered and are only heaviest from December to April. The annual rainfall average varies between 7 to 15 days per month in winter and summer respectively.
