The hotel lacked people who spoke English at the Check in, Front Desk and Concierge. This was extremely frustrating for us and we observed multiple guests from many countries daily dealing with the same frustration.
The rooms were old and mostly clean however the bathrooms were covered in mould. We attempted to convey the mould in the bathrooms to housekeeping, however this did not work and we purchased bleach from 7/11 and cleaned the bathrooms ourselves.
The breakfast/dining was wonderful and these staff spoke some English as did the bar staff throughout the resort. The communal areas and pools were really nice. The areas of the hotel that had been affected by the 2004 Tsunami have been updated and look good, everything else has remained untouched.
We would probably not stay in this hotel again unless we could be guaranteed to stay in an updated room with a clean bathroom.
