Cocktails have been a part of travel for longer than you may think. In fact, as far back as WWII, returned servicemen have been bringing home rum-soaked recipes for navy grog and other tropical delights from their journeys to the Pacific. Although these days, we associate tropical cocktail menus with relaxing beach holidays.

Take your tastebuds on a trip around the world with tasty libations from California, Puerto Rico, New Orleans, Hawaii and Havana. Whether you’re lucky enough to be sipping them on a tropical island or are just trying to cool off in the backyard, we’ve got the top 5 cocktails of summer!

1. Mai Tai

Cocktails - Mai Tai

30ml Light Rum15ml Triple Sec
30ml Dark Rum45ml Sweet & Sour Mix
15ml Orgeat1 Cherry to garnish
15ml Simple Syrup 

Measure all ingredients into a shaker filled with ice. Shake for 30 seconds then strain into a Collins glass over ice. Garnish with a cherry and serve!

2. Pina Colada

Cocktails - Pina Colada

90ml Light Rum3 tbsp Crushed Pineapple
3 tbsp Coconut Milk2 cups Crushed Ice

Measure all ingredients into blender and blend at high speed for approximately 1 minute. Pour into Collins glass and enjoy!

3. Hurricane

Cocktails - Hurricane

60ml Dark Rum30ml Orange Juice
60ml White Rum1 tbsp Grenadine
90ml Passionfruit Syrup1 Cherry
60ml Pineapple Juice 

Fill a cocktail shaker ¾ full with ice. Measure in all ingredients and shake well. Strain into a Hurricane glass. Garnish with pineapple and a cherry.

4. Blue Hawaiian

Cocktails - Blue Hawaiian

30ml Light Rum1 cup of Ice
60ml Pineapple Juice1 slice of Pineapple
30ml Blue Curacao1 Cherry
30ml Crème de Coconut 

Blend all ingredients in blender at high speed. Pour into a Highball glass. Garnish with slice of pineapple and cherry.

5. Mojito

Cocktails - Mojito

45ml Light Rum2 tsp Sugar
90ml Lemon JuiceClub Soda
3 Mint Sprigs1 slice of Lemon

Crush mint with ice in tall glass. Add sugar and lemon juice and stir. Add rum, stir and top with club soda. Garnish with lemon slice and mint.
