We celebrated a wedding anniversary here - just a handful of nights - which felt about right to enjoy what the island had to offer. It's stunningly beautiful, especially in the morning and at sunset. We hiked the island and explored the beaches, only rarely encountering other people (which was surreal). The coral snorkelling was impressive (more vibrant in parts than I expected) and immediately accessible. We even saw a huge turtle - just the two of us, snorkelling around by ourselves (again... surreal)
The hotel is an impressive building - but somewhat feels like it's run by a very well-meaning crew of travellers and backpackers themselves passing through. This meant the service has a... friendly authenticity perhaps... rather than being a superb well-run machine. For the price point, and the impending establishment of the island that was totally fine.
Would certainly recommend!
What a devine part of the World! A little slice of heaven! Totally relaxing, sun, swim, snorkel, eat, rest, sleep, repeat! The ferry transfer over from Cairns is picturesque! The resort has a magnificent pool, rooms were serviced daily and sparkling clean. Zephyr's restaurant was delish, The views,
ambience and sunsets were to die for!
We have absolutely loved our stay on Fitzroy Island! With 2 under 2 we thought it might be a mission but we both managed to get snorkelling in and find plenty of stuff for the kids to do! Would highly recommend this to everyone!
