When in Noosa, don't be surprised if the spectacular natural environment and warm and welcoming locals strike inspiration in you. Thankfully, many of the local artists and galleries also run workshops and master classes which provide a unique and very fun way to spend the day. However if you're not looking to be quite so 'hands on' a simple visit to the many local galleries is the perfect way to appreciate the region's vibrant artistic streak.

Although there are many privately run art galleries in Noosa, the main art gallery is the public Noosa Regional Gallery located on the ground floor of the Tewantin Council Office on Pelican Street. Open from 10 am to 4 pm Wednesday to Sunday, admission is generally free with the odd exception of some major exhibits and events. Just a five minute drive from Hastings Street, the gallery is home to contemporary art from both local artists as well as a large collection from all over Australia.

Noosa Regional Gallery also enjoys an ever-changing program of touring exhibitions featuring leading national and local artists and is curated by professional staff who showcase collections that capture the unique yet contemporary character and culture of Noosa and the Sunshine Coast. Just under half an hour from Noosa Heads, the Noosa Museum in Pomona also offers a fascinating insight into the hinterland and history of the region.
