Planning your next holiday just got easier.
With TravelOnline, you can book now with an affordable deposit and pay the balance off over time in small weekly instalments.
Importantly you're locking in today's prices. Airline and hotel rates typically increase, as seats and rooms book out.* Locking in today's prices is a smart strategy.
Step 1: Choose "Pay by Instalments" at Checkout
Once you've paid your deposit, your accommodation will be confirmed by our team and if flights are included in your holiday package, we purchase the tickets on your behalf. This means your seat is secure and you have locked in todays price.
Step 2: Automatic Payments Made Easy
Your remaining balance will be divided into equal weekly instalments and automatically charged to your nominated payment method on the same day each week. The number of instalments and weekly amount will be visible at checkout.
You'll receive an email after each payment with your updated schedule and remaining balance.
Each payment is:
• Automatically charged to your nominated payment method
• Confirmed via email once processed
Our system keeps your plan running automatically, so you can focus on your holiday, not your payments.
Step 3: Full payment completed
Once your holiday is fully paid for, you will receive all your travel documentation. Typically this happens 45 days prior to your departure date.
Who is eligible to use Pay by Instalments?
If the option appears at checkout, your booking is eligible. If it doesn't appear, it may be because your selected departure date is too close.
Can I make extra payments or pay my trip off early?
Yes. You can request a link to make early or additional payments at any time. Simply contact our team during business hours on 1300 883 887 or at info@travelonline.com to arrange an early payment or to pay the remaining off your balance. Once your booking is paid in full, no further automatic payments will be deducted.
Can I make fortnightly or monthly payments?
No. Instalment amounts are weekly and the number of instalments are automatically calculated based on your travel date and total booking value. You'll see your total instalment and deposit breakdown clearly displayed at checkout before you book.
What happens if a payment fails?
If a payment fails, you'll receive an automatic email notification, and we'll retry within 24 hours. If a second or third attempt fails, our team may contact you to update your payment details. To avoid risk of cancellation, make sure your payment details are current and you have adequate funds available before each payment is scheduled.
What if I cancel my booking?
Cancellations follow the same supplier terms and conditions as regular bookings (e.g., airline, hotel, or tour operator policies). Once your deposit is paid, flights and accommodation are booked immediately to secure your holiday, so deposits are generally non-refundable and cancellation fees may apply. TravelOnline cannot guarantee refunds outside supplier terms.
Can I change my booking after it's confirmed?
If you wish to make changes to your confirmed booking, additional fees, add-ons and amendment fees must be paid in full at the time of the requested change. Extra charges cannot be added to your instalment plan. Changes are subject to availability and all supplier terms and conditions.
When will my final payment be due?
Your final payment date will be listed on your payment schedule, sent to your email upon confirmation. This is typically 45 days or more prior to departure. Full payment must be received before departure. Your booking and check in information will be released once your final payment has been made.
When you book with TravelOnline using pay by instalments:
• Once your deposit is paid and your booking is confirmed, you are liable for the full amount of your holiday package.
• Any changes to your booking (such as airline or hotel amendments) must be paid in full at the time of change and cannot be added to your instalment plan.
• Refunds and cancellations are subject to the terms and conditions of each supplier (e.g. airline, hotel, or tour operator).
• In some cases, portions of your booking may be non-refundable once confirmed.
• TravelOnline cannot guarantee refunds or credit for cancellations outside supplier terms.

*Studies and real-world data show a clear trend - airfares usually go up the closer you get to your departure date. Airlines use dynamic pricing to adjust fares as seats fill, rewarding early bookings and charging more to last-minute travellers. Research has found that the best deals are typically available a few months out. These findings are backed by academic studies (Domínguez-Menchero et al., 2014; Zhang, 2022; Steyn, 2016) and Google Flights data reported by National Geographic (2025), which note that fares "only tend to rise the closer you get to take-off."
