Located just an hour and fifteen minutes north of Brisbane, getting to Caloundra is easy thanks to its prime position at the southern end of Queensland’s Sunshine Coast. Positioned 94km north of the capital city, Caloundra is connected by major highways such as the Brice Highway and Sunshine Motorway.
Getting to Caloundra takes approximately one hour and fifteen minutes by car from Brisbane, travelling north along the Bruce Highway. When you reach Beerwah, take the exit to Caloundra Road and follow it all the way into the centre of town where it meets Bowman Road. There is plenty of great scenery along the way as well as a number of little coastal towns so be sure to leave yourself enough travel time if you want to make any stop offs.
Conveniently located approximately half an hour north of Caloundra, the Sunshine Coast Airport is serviced by a variety of airlines offering direct flights from Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne making getting to Caloundra from interstate a breeze. Flights from Sydney to Caloundra take around 90 minutes while flights from Melbourne take approximately two and a half hours.
Getting to Caloundra by bus or coach is also a great option if affordability is important. It’s also an easy option if you don’t have a car or would prefer to let someone else take care of the driving while you sit back and enjoy the scenery. A number of companies offer coach and bus services along the Bruce Highway and through Nambour with services available for connection to Caloundra taking between 20 and 30 minutes. Local bus services also operate in town and from the Sunshine Coast Airport.
Getting to Caloundra by train is also possible thanks to frequent rail services that stop at Nambour and regularly connect to services into Caloundra.
