The down-side. The first room I stayed in was at the rear of the complex. I ignored the terrible view, (the rear view of the complex next door) thinking that somebody had to have the back of the complex, and this time around it was my turn. However, my multiple complaints about the strong smell of sewage were ignored by the management for nearly 2 days, as I felt that they perceived it was just a ploy to get moved. My room was changed, (thank goodness!) however, over the following days just walking down the corridor in that block you could still smell it. Obviously there is a problem there that needs fixing. The change in rooms was also poorly handled, and I was effectively "homeless" for 3 hours after the proposed change over time (time frame given by the hotel) with my luggage (and myself) sitting in a friends room while I waited....I am embarrassed to say that I have had my first adult tantrum - after two days of the terrible smell, I did "lose it". After saying that I had come on my friend's recommendation, I could not in all honesty recommend the hotel to any of my friends. Boom.... have a new room. Lesson learned here.
The up side. Housekeeping staff and waiting staff were polite, helpful and made me feel like I was on holiday. The housekeeping staff seemed to wait until you were out before cleaning your room - and if they did come while you were there they did everything to be unobtrusive and got out as quickly as they could. Their standards of cleaning were clearly very high. Breakfast catered for a wide range of tastes, and there was plenty of time to socialise over your meal. Again, staff waiting on the tables were clearly interested in taking care of their guests and the environment. The pool area was always clean and well cared for.
