I'll start with the disappointing things first - I had asked for two single beds and got one queen bed to share with my daughter. I had read that this had happened with someone else and wasn't too bothered initially, they did offer to roll another bed in. But when we got in I needed to use my phone and the wifi just did not work in there so I did go back and pointed out that I had upgraded to the lagoon superior which online shows as having wifi available (for extra charge) and a king bed - so I'm definitely not getting what was advertised
The manager didn't speak to me directly but said through the staff that there was no compensation available and I could go to a cabin without a view of the lagoon that did have a king bed but still no wifi.
So they could have handled that a bit better, I didn't feel like a valued guest, we even joked with the staff that I guess it is what it is and just get on with it.
The food - I also read that the food was hit and miss and tbh I thought that's a bit full on considering that you are in such a beautiful island but it does kinda dampen the experience a little. This is what we had and how I'd rate it.
Monday night Indian buffet - 7/10 a fairly good start
Breakfast buffet 5/10 - honestly go for the omelette/egg station and the fruit and yoghurt - the pastries were stale both times I tried which must have been about 3 days apart.
Tepanyaki on site 7/10 - we are spoilt in Australia with a show but you won't get that experience - just cooked plated and done. Ok taste, nothing special.
I had a club sandwich at the pool bar 0/10 - I have no idea how they managed to make a fried egg taste so gross but it did and the chips that came with it were rubbery. I didn't finish it - also for anyone looking to go tot the lunch bar a cross the lagoon instead - we got a Morrocan wrap from there which was also inedible. The island doesn't have great options - if I knew better I would have gone to the waterfront bar and grill each night as their food was much better.
Ok so now the good things.
I got a free massage - you need to book that straight away as they are fully booked days in advance but we managed to squeeze in - it was 10/10
They have free water sports equipment and we made use of the kayaks on a couple of occasions, they had snorkelling and a catamaran sailing thing there too which I would have loved to try but just missed getting it. The waters are phenomenal with heaps of starfish to see there. We kayaked over to the island opposite and had lunch / but just get a drink if you go as per my previous comment haha
Really beautiful.
The site was full but we still had please of places to chill, they have pool side lounges and also a good few double lounges scattered along the lagoon - just paradise.
I missed the entertainment mostly and I don't think it was well attended - we did bingo one night where we were all escorted to the kids rooms which was weird but funny - the last night had a singer called Sheila - ABSOLUTELY incredible voice - she belts out Whitney like she taught Whitney how to sing. And she is a lovely person to boot - I would highly recommend seeing her perform 20/10
The rooms were cleaned everyday and the staff are really friendly.
One of the staff gave me a tip to get a taxi for the day and just get them to tour us around if we weren't keen on some of the tours - this was a great suggestion! It costs 15000 for the day and we had a large vehicle so had a couple of friends in there too - the cost per person after dividing that up made it a little cheaper than the tours and we were on our own schedule. We went to the following:
Cultural village 1500 from memory
Waterfall 1500
Blue lagoon 1500
Stopped for lunch at a really good restaurant en route
Chocolate.tour 1000
Turtle sanctuary 2000
Hope this helps with your holiday
