Mission Beach Attractions

Situated in the heart of North Queensland, Mission Beach has a range of attractions, from the glorious Great Barrier Reef to the cosmopolitan atmosphere of Cairns and the gateway to the surrounding landscapes and natural attractions.

About an hour and a half south of Cairns, many Mission Beach attractions centre around the area's spectacular tropical environment and range from rainforest walks, fishing, kayaking, sailing, 4WDing, white water rafting, scenic helicopter flights and even sky diving.

With the World Heritage listed Great Barrier Reef so easily accessed from Mission Beach, there are a great range of Great Barrier Reef tours on offer in the area. Departing from nearby wharfs and the Cairns Reef Fleet Terminal, there are hundreds of tours available allowing you to explore the unique ecosystem that exists on the reef.

Discover the colourful corals and tropical marine life as you cruise the crystal waters on a day trip, scuba safari, overnighter, island visit, reef pontoon or simple transfer. With some of the best swimming, snorkelling and diving in the world, Great Barrier Reef tours are certainly one of the most popular Mission Beach attractions.

However if you'd prefer to stay on dry land, there are plenty of other ways to see the best that Mission Beach and North Queensland has to offer. The Daintree is another attraction that's high on the list of any visitor and is also one of the most popular attractions in Queensland. The lush rainforest and mighty Daintree River that the region is famous for offers an abundance of nature experiences and attractions including trekking, kayaking, off-roading and even cruises.

To the south, there's also the famous Skyrail and Kuranda Scenic Railway which offers a unique perspective on this spectacular region with a bird's eye view from a cable car.
