My family (myself, husband and 2 sons aged 19 months & 3.5 years) recently stayed at the Sheraton Denarau and had a great time. We were welcomed like family and our boys were greeted with hugs and high fives from the friendly staff. The staff were always happy, smiling and extremely patient with the boys.
Our room was an ocean studio room in block 17, it was spacious, clean and away from the noise of restaurants and pools. It was serviced well each day and any request were met quickly and without fuss. Parts of the room were 'tired’ and in need of a little TLC, but that didn't bother us. The bathroom was lovely and the boys had fun with the double shower, quite a novelty. Our room had a great view out to the ocean and the cool sea breezes were highly welcomed.
Breakfast in the Feast restaurant was an easy walk from our room (approx. 5 min) each morning and we found it to be a pleasant way to start each day. The variety of food on offer was great, the omelettes were fantastic and there were plenty of other options. The first night we had room service which was pricey but the meals were excellent. We also had a meal at the Wet Edge restaurant which was more for the view than the food. For all other meals we ate outside of the resort. It was very expensive to eat at the resort and after reading many other reviews about the food prices at the Sheraton we chose to eat at other places around the island and were never disappointed.
One great thing about staying here is at you have the opportunity to use the facilities of the Sheraton Villas and Westin resort. Our room was closer to the Villas pool and we found it to be much quieter than the main pool in the Sheraton and more enjoyable for a family swim.
I would recommend the Sheraton to couples/families looking for an easy getaway without travelling too far from the airport. It is a resort aimed at families, so if you’re a couple expect to see and hear children of all ages. While Denarau is more ‘westernised’ than other parts of Fiji, it is still a nice place to visit and the staff/locals are always friendly and happy to give you a ‘BULA’.
