Rarotonga is the heart of the South Pacific and one of the most romantic places on Earth, which is why it is so popular with couples from all over the world looking for a special place to exchange their vows.
There are a number of different locations on the island where a couple can choose to tie the knot, but it would be hard to go past a long white sandy beach on the shores of Aroa Lagoon, on Rarotonga's southwest coast. In native Cook Islands Maori the name means the 'Lagoon of Love', and it's easy to see why. Swaying palm trees, turquoise sea lapping the pale sandy shore, turn golden as the sun sets.

Hotel is located at one of the greatest location of Rarotonga island. Nevertheless, the hotel itself is more average: Rooms are quite old; selection at breakfast is quite poor.
The resort is situated on a beautiful beach with pristine waters. Great for snorkelling and great for kids. The resort has some nice areas but there are some areas that they could improve on. We had 2 different rooms during our stay, the Beachfront rooms were cleaner and nicer than the Deluxe Beachside suites, kids beds weren't great although our bed was firm and comfortable. Only limited dining options, food was just 'ok' (but we area bit picky), probably fairly average for a resort like that. The resort had a small shop although it stocked barely anything so it is worth the 15 minute walk up the road to a great little cafe/ general store nearby. The island its self is gorgeous and definitely worth a trip.
We had nine nights at the resort and had a wonderful family holiday. Having stayed at two Fijian resorts we obviously compared the resorts but in saying that we accepted the resort as it was and were very happy with our stay. A few suggestions, noone clears the tables, at all, there are glasses plates etc left at the pool and on all the tables, all the time and you have to go to the bar to order drinks. There is no lying at the pool and being waited on. Perhaps they were short staffed which often appeared the case. In my opinion, they would make a lot more money if they had some training on service and up selling cocktails, pool side snacks etc. Special mention must be made of Inia, Maraea, Esterlina and Jolynda who went the extra mile. The gardens and facilities are well kept although the resort is a little dated and could do with a little maintenance and love. The beach was one of the best on the island in our opinion and some of our best snorkelling was off that beach. Sunsets were amazing and the relaxed Cook Island feeling was contagious. The Manager cocktail evenings would be made even better if the Manager popped in some time. All in all, we would recommend both the Cook Islands and the Rarotongan Beach resort and Spa(although the spa is not operational) as a family holiday destination.
