Western Australia Attractions

Western Australia attractions are as many and varied as the regions of WA themselves. The state capital, Perth, sits on the stunning Swan River and enjoys all the modern luxuries of the city just minutes from the golden beaches. Less than half an hour from the city, Fremantle is renowned for its nightlife and quaint harbour complex. Rottnest Island is popular for cycling, fishing, snorkelling and diving, and of course no holiday to WA would be complete without visiting Monkey Mia and feeding the dolphins. Broome is where the bush meets the sea and is home to the renowned Cable Beach while the wild and wonderful Kimberley remains one of the world's last great wilderness areas.

Weather & Climate

Western Australia weather and climate is as diverse as the state itself and in fact one of the most diverse in all of Australia. From the tropical north to the moderate south, there are two distinct seasonal changes. The southern part of the state experiences four defined seasons - summer, autumn, winter and spring while the weather and climate in the north is characterised by either the wet or dry seasons.

Western Australia Facts

Australians drive on the left hand side of the road and speed limits and distances are expressed in kilometres with major routes well signposted. Electricity is supplied at 230/240 volts (50 hertz), however most hotels provide 110 volt AC sockets (rated at 20 watts) for electric razors only. Western Australia experiences warm sunny weather with UV being high at all times of the year, therefore visitors are recommended to wear a broad spectrum sunscreen of at least SPF 30 and a hat. Box jellyfish, bluebottles and irukandji are sometimes found off the coast between October and April. Avoid these creatures as they can cause a number of mild and/or extremely painful symptoms.
