Getting to Moreton Island

Located 58km north east of Brisbane, Moreton Island is made up of the three main townships of Bulwer, Kooringal and Cowan. Bulwer is a small township off the coast and is a hub for the general store and garage, helipad and first-aid station. Cowan on the other hand is the heart and soul of the island's history, once home to WWII soldiers and with many artefacts still remaining. The oldest working lighthouse in Queensland can also be found on Cape Moreton to the island's north while Mount Tempest is the highest point of the island and is close to one of the world's highest coastal sand hills.
