The Puffing Billy Steam Train & Healesville Wildlife tour offered by AAT Kings journeys deep into the lush forests of the Dandenong Ranges onboard Puffing Billy as you wind your way up the mountainside through the fern glens on the oldest steam train in Australia. Enjoy a a uniquely Australian experience - an authentic Billy Tea, which includes homemade lamingtons and you even get to sample the famous Vegemite! There is also a guided tour of the Healesville Wildlife Sanctuary, home to more than 200 species of birds, reptiles, mammals, koalas, dingoes, Tasmanian Devils and birds of prey in a natural bushland setting. Guests also have the option of enjoying lunch at the Sanctuary Harvest Café at Healesville Sanctuary.
The opening of Healesville Sanctuary’s new exhibit, Kangaroo Country is getting ready for visitors in late December 2017! One of the final stages of completing the new exhibit is moving the Kangaroos in to their new home. Both the Kangaroo Island Kangaroos and the Red Kangaroo families will be moving from their temporary home near Badger Creek and hopping in to their new permanent home, Kangaroo Country. This move will be happening between 08 November – 20 December 2017. Please note: during this time, guests may not see a Kangaroo as they would normally on a visit to Healesville Sanctuary. We recommend instead they visit our Wallabies, which is along the Woodlands Track.
