Located on the Las Vegas Strip, Mandalay Bay is a luxury casino and hotel featuring 44 storeys, 24 elevators, 3,309 hotel rooms and 135,000 sq ft (12,500 sqm) of casino. Making an appearance in the 2007 film Ocean's Thirteen, Mandalay Bay also features a 1,000,000 sq ft (93,000 sqm) Convention Centre and a 12,000 seat Events Centre. The hotel is also connected by a tram service to sister properties the Luxor and the Excalibur.
Mandalay Bay's biggest attraction is its 11 acre (4.5 ha) pool area known as Mandalay Beach, complete with 2,700 tonnes of real sand, a 6 million litre wave pool, three heated pools and a lazy river with small waterfall. The popular chill out area features 100 bungalows, day beds, cabanas and personal villas that are available for rent as well as Moorea, a European-style pool that allows topless bathing. The tropical theme of Mandalay Bay is continued with the Shark Reef Aquarium, a saltwater aquarium home to a number of exhibits, two walk-through aquarium tunnels and North America's third largest saltwater aquarium tank.
Another popular attraction is the House of Blues, a live music venue and restaurant, with a 1,800 person capacity. A music icon on the Strip, the House of Blues offers a wide range of live music including jazz, reggae, rock, rap, rockabilly and of course, blues and has showcased the talents of big names including Guns N' Roses. The legendary venue also offers creole style cuisine at its Crossroads Restaurant which hosts the unique Sunday Gospel Brunch, an all you can eat buffet accompanied by live entertainment in the gospel style. Mandalay Bay is also home to a number of celebrity chef restaurants including Lupo by Wolfgang Puck.
