Colombo - Sigiriya

After breakfast, explore the city of Colombo in a day tour. Visit the famous Pettah Bazaar, and Hindu and Buddhist temples such as the Gangarama and Sri Kailawasanathan Swami Devasthanam Kovil. You will also see some of the city’s residential areas such as Cinnamon Gardens, where you find prestigious addresses such as the Prime Minister’s Office, Independence Hall, Colombo Town Hall and the National Museum. Proceed to Sigiriya and check in to your accommodation for 2 nights stay.

Sigiriya - Polonnaruwa - Sigiriya

Start the day with a climb to the fifth century Sigiriya fortress, which sits atop a rock that dramatically rises almost 200 metres above the rainforest. Pass through the famous ‘Lion’s Belly’ and climb to the top via a spiral staircase that snakes its way around the rock. Enjoy the breath taking view. In the afternoon, discover the well preserved ruins of the ancient city of Polonnaruwa. Admire the Gal Viharaya with its four statues of the Buddha carved out of rock.

Sigiriya – Dambulla – Kandy

Continue to the Golden Temple of Dambulla to explore this 2,000-year-old sacred pilgrimage site carved deep inside a mountain. Enjoy a visit to spice and herb gardens in Matale. Witness a cookery demonstration and learn about the culinary and therapeutic values of these products. Proceed to Kandy for a visit to the Peradeniya Royal Botanical Gardens, and stroll along the ‘Avenue of Palms’ that opens onto the Great Lawn with its solitary giant Java willow tree is a spine-tingling sensation. Check in to your hotel for 2 nights stay.

Kandy

Kandy is renowned for its beautiful lakeside location, framed by lush hills. The jewel in its ever-resplendent crown is the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic. Other notable structures include the Golden Canopy, the New Palace and the Royal Palace, the old courthouse, the Queen’s Bathing House, the National Museum, and the sanctuary. Take to the roads to discover Sri Lanka’s wildlife and heritage. Visit the enchanting Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage and watch these majestic creatures during feeding and bath time. Finish the day with a dramatic cultural show, which features 12 folk and traditional dances and a sizzling fire walking performance.

Kandy – Nuwara Eliya

Savour Sri Lanka’s most famous product with a visit to a tea plantation and factory. Continue to Nuwara Eliya, the picturesque lakeside town that is Sri Lanka’s proud ‘tea capital’ and which is also known as ‘Little England’. It was in the hills around Nuwara Eliya, which means ‘City of Light’, where the British introduced tea production to Sri Lanka in the mid-19th century thus creating the highly regarded variety known as Ceylon, the name by which they called the island. Other attractions near this charming relic of empire include the evocatively named Lovers’ Leap Waterfall and Sri Lanka’s highest mountain, the 2,500 metre Pidurutalagala, which overlooks the town.

Nuwara Eliya – Yala

Drive towards the temple of Buduruwagala, where seven statues of Buddha and other revered figures were carved into a rock more than 1,000 years ago. Continue to Yala National Park for a Jeep safari through terrains of grassy plains, deciduous forests and sand dunes, which combine to make ideal habitats for thousands of species in Yala. The National Park is home to hundreds of elephants, boars, buffalo, sloth bears, deer, crocodiles, and the endangered Sri Lankan leopard.

Yala – Galle

After breakfast you will embark on a scenic drive to Galle. Straddling a beautiful bay, Galle is a multicultural city with a rich colonial heritage from the Portuguese, Dutch and British. Check in to your beach hotel amidst the sun, sea and sand of the southern coast for overnight stay.

Galle – Depart Colombo

Continue north along the coast to Kosgoda, which is famed for its turtle hatchery. Several species of turtles, including the endangered hawksbill are protected in this refuge. The turtles’ eggs are the most vulnerable as they are left uncovered on beaches all around the coast. Transfer to Colombo Airport in the evening to connect with your homebound flight.

  • By making a reservation with Travel Online, you have agreed to accept the Terms & Conditions.
  • All bookings are subject to availability at the time of reservation.
  • All prices are correct at the time of advertising and may differ once airfare has sold out.
  • Price shown is based on Twin Share on 26 September 2019 departure only. Other dates are available and may incur a surcharge.
  • Deposit:
  • A non-refundable $500 per person is required at the time of booking along with a completed tour booking form and accompanying passenger names must be provided exactly as per passport (a copy is to be provided), including middle names, at the time of booking.
  • Any spelling corrections made after a deposit is paid must be sent in writing and will incur additional fees, including any ticket reissue fees.
  • By sending a deposit the client agrees to be bound by the terms, conditions and responsibilities set forth in the booking itinerary.
  • Balance of payment must be received no later than 75 days prior to date of departure.
  • The client also agrees that:
  • All persons are fit and physically able to partake, unaided, in their chosen tour as per the itinerary outlined in the Tour description.
  • All parties acknowledge the physical demands and hazards involved in the tour they will be undertaking and have chosen to participate at their own risk.
  • Any amendment to a booking due to the above, may incur additional charges.
  • We reserve the right to cancel the booking without receiving full payment on due day and to apply the appropriate cancellation charges.
  • Cancellations must be made in writing and will be subject to the following:
  • More than 75 days prior to departure, loss of deposit.
  • 69-60 days prior to departure: forfeit 25% of total tour cost.
  • 59-50 days prior to departure, forfeit 50% of total tour cost.
  • 49-40 days prior to departure, forfeit 80% of total tour cost.
  • 40 days prior to departure, forfeit 100% total tour cost.
  • A passport with a minimum of 6 months validity is required for customers travelling to all countries in our tour itineraries.
  • All passports, vaccinations and visas are the responsibility of the travelling guest to secure prior to departure from Australia. All airfare/taxes are due in full 24 hours from reservation and strict cancellation/change fees apply.
  • We aim to release Travel Documents to you 4 weeks prior to travel.
  • On occasions certain items may not be able to be confirmed until you arrive your destination due to (but not limited to) availability of trains, availability of tickets, departure times and so on.
  • Total number of days incorporates time flying.
