We paid extra for a water view at the tidal waters, which made the price something akin to a 5 star hotel in a reasonable city, so we expected a really nice hotel for a couple days away on our honeymoon. We told the hotel manager we were on a honeymoon and asked if there was a special room...hmmmmm.
We were placed in room 60 of this resort and a large pipe next to the bed head(behind the wall), ran water ALL night - sleeping was next to impossible!!!! It sounded like someone going to the toilet next to your head...all night. We complained but got no where, other than management making a note for maintenance.
The balcony was unusable because the millions of mosquitos that live in the lake just in front of the hotel - if you stay here, be very careful of this, look up in the ceiling area of the balcony before attempting to open the door. Also, we are both tall people - 6ft, the shower bay is 30cm X 60cm X 30cm. If I dropped the soap in the shower, I had to open the door to pick it up - it is the smallest shower bay I have ever seen. Tiny doesn't come close to describing it.
The only other negative was that some - not all - of the staff clearly did not want to be in hospitality. We asked one waitress if we could get another drink whilst she was clearing out plates and she paused and looked at us for 10 seconds and said I suppose...we felt as if we were an inconvenience. A couple of the other girls were absolutely fantastic and very helpful, but it only takes 1 to sour the experience.
Positives - rooms were very clean and spacious, spa was clean. The gardens looked neat but as above, mozzies kept us from exploring.
The meals were divine and reasonably priced - even if some of the waiting staff were grumpy.
Over all - a little disappointed for the expense and sadly won't be going back. Had we have been able to sleep better, then potentially we would have enjoyed the stay more but having stayed in many hundreds of hotels over my years - this has the potential, but it is simply falling short in key areas...
