The East Coast of Tahiti is rich in history and is well known for the black sand beaches and the local crafts people. On this Discovery of the Authentic Tahiti - Half Day East Coast, you will have the opportunity to meet local Tahitians and see their artistic talent and savoir-faire through their crafts and explore some of the less populated regions on the coast of Tahiti.
After departing your accommodation, travel past the President’s Palace, before visiting Matavai Bay where explorers Samuel Wallis and James Cook landed in the 18th century. See Pointe Venus, the longest black sand beach on the island and admire the views towards Moorea Island. From this point your tour travels to the beautiful Faarumai Waterfall then onto Orofara Valley where you will meet a local wood sculptor. Passing Papenoo which is popular with body boarders and surfers the tour then stops at The Blow Hole. Watch as the waves are sucked into the underwater caves then powerfully blasted out!
Before your half day East Coast tour ends you will visit Tahara’s View Point for panoramic ocean views over Matavai Bay, a Chinese Cemetery steeped with traditional burying rituals, explore behind the scenes at a local Painted Paeros factory and finally admire the fine sculptures and engraving artwork of Centre Des Metiers D’Art.
