Siska
/

At 80ft long and a single mast reaching 106ft, the Siska was built in Western Australia and had sailed approximately 140,000 nautical miles before retiring to the Whitsundays in late 1992. Having circumnavigated the world twice and won the Sydney to Hobart yacht race twice, she now enjoys a more relaxed way of sailing the Whitsunday Islands.

Due to her racing heritage, Siska features a myriad of sailing gear and winches and guests are welcomed to assist the crew in hoisting and trimming the sails and even taking the helm to steer through the crystal clear waters of the Great Barrier Reef. However she is also one of the most comfortable maxi yachts available with plenty of head room, ample deck space, 2 dining tables at which to enjoy your meals and even a boom awning to provide shade when anchored.

Itinerary

The following itinerary is an example of a scheduled cruise. All cruises are subject to weather and tidal conditions and the Captain’s professional judgement in putting together the best itinerary to keep guests happy, safe and well.

Day 1:
Meet your crew at Abell Point Marina at 8am for a head count, to depart the marina at 8:30am. Feeling energized? Help hoist the sails! Otherwise, sit back and relax as you float across the Whitsunday Passage to Whitsunday Island, finding anchorage at Tongue Bay. Take a guided bush walk to the Hill Inlet Lookout to the view of Whitehaven Beach before heading down and spending an hour or two exploring. In the afternoon you’ll sail north to another island where you’ll anchor just before sunset. After dinner, grab a drink and enjoy the evening.

Day 2:
Early rise for breakfast, and kit up with snorkelling gear, ready to jump in over the fringing coral reefs to see the fish and coral. Time for morning tea before heading to another location for a swim, snorkel or a beach stop. After lunch, it is time to set the sails once again and make way across the Whitsunday Passage. Arrive back into Airlie Beach at 4pm.
