We’ve heard a lot of negative news about the cruise industry as of late, but what you may not realise is that there is some great news for Aussie cruisers.

Due to the drop in demand from Northern Hemisphere customers, some of the world’s biggest cruise lines are relocating to the Southern Hemisphere and bringing a huge range of new itineraries along with them.

Right now, Australia and New Zealand are some of the safest destinations to cruise, and there’s never been a better time to take advantage of some amazing cruise deals. With over 150,000 cabins to fill on these new itineraries, there are incredible savings to be found.

The world-class Sapphire Princess has announced 44 new cruises across five major Australian cities. The ship will arrive six months ahead of the planned season and will inject $140m into the local economy.

This is great news for the Australian tourism industry. After the recent bushfires over summer, the new cruise itineraries and could not come at a better time.

“With the ongoing uncertainty of travel restrictions and port closures in Asia impacting our cruise operations in the region, we hope that this extended deployment in Australia will benefit local tourism, particularly in regional areas with 102 visits to regional ports around the country during her year-long deployment,” said Princess Cruises Senior Vice President Asia Pacific Stuart Allison.

Some of the hottest Princess Cruise itineraries include a round-trip of Australia, as well as 19 maiden calls along the Western Australian coastline. Thanks to these new itineraries, cruise passengers will get the opportunity to visit many fantastic destinations normally only offered in summer.

Additionally, Princess Cruises will be offering 12 night cruises to Fiji from just $999 per person twin share. These incredible offers are on sale now, so don’t miss out.

The cruise will visit Sydney, Brisbane, Airlie Beach, Cairns, Darwin, Fremantle, Adelaide, Kangaroo Island and Melbourne.

On top of this, Cunard are releasing six new Australia and New Zealand itineraries with 29 extra port visits.

Aussie favourite, P&O cruises are adding their newest and largest ship, the Pacific Adventure to their Australian fleet in October this year.

Perfect for cruising families, the Pacific Adventure features twin-racer waterslides and an adventure park including a thrilling flying fox, rock climbing wall and “walk the plank”.

This means that the existing Pacific Explorer ship will move to her new home port in Brisbane and replace the retired Pacific Dawn ship from P&O’s fleet.

The highly anticipated Brisbane Cruise Terminal will be opening in October, following a $177 million upgrade. The world-class terminal will be the only port in Australia to service the biggest of ‘mega ships’ that not even Sydney or Melbourne can cater to.

The terminal will act as the gateway to Queensland and help to showcase all that the fabulous state has to offer. It is estimated to welcome over 760,000 annual visitors and contribute $1.3 billion to the Brisbane economy.
