Getting to Southland is easy thanks to its convenient position on State Highways 6 and 94. Queenstown International Airport is the international gateway, located just two and a half hours' drive from Invercargill. Visitors can hire a car from the airport and drive the small, scenic routes along State Highway 6 and State Highway 94. Alternatively, there are also a number of domestic flights to Invercargill available, with the local airport located just 5 minutes from downtown Invercargill. For those who prefer not to hire a car, this is a much easier option with a number of taxis and shuttle services available from the domestic airport into the centre of town.
