Wellington is the international gateway to Hawkes Bay however getting to Hawkes Bay from the airport takes approximately 4 hours by car along State Highway 50. Although this is an excellent opportunity to take in some of the stunning scenery along the way, you may not have that much time to spare. Air New Zealand offers a number of domestic flights to the Hawkes Bay Airport from Wellington.
