Of all the Merimbula and Sapphire Coast attractions, you can't miss the pristine beaches, whale watching in Eden, Lake Merimbula and the Bournda National Park, Mimosa Rocks National Park, Ben Boyd National Park and the Bega Cheese Heritage Centre. Surrounded by lush hinterland, Lake Merimbula and the Bournda National Park are rich with natural forests, native flora and fauna and plenty of marked trails for you to explore. Spot wallabies, eastern grey kangaroos and a number of native bird species.
The Mimsoa Rocks National Park offers 5,335 hectares of cliffs, rock stacks and rugged headland as well as natural volcanic rock formations. Popular with bushwalkers, birdwatchers, snorkellers, surfers and fishermen, there are also a number of basic picnic facilities at Middle Beach, Aragunnu Beach, Nelson Beach, Picnic Point, Moon Bay and Bithery Inlet. Ben Boyd National Park is a special placed steeped in Aboriginal history and contrasts red rock against the sparkling coastline. Home to rugged bays, surf beaches, sheltered inlets, an historic lighthouse and quiet campgrounds, the park's forests and heathlands feature a variety of plants and animals including the rare long-nosed potoroo, ground parrot and hooded plover.
Finally, the Bega Cheese Heritage Center offers old fashioned hospitality and is a must for any cheese-lover. Offering an insight into the significance of dairying in the Bega Valley, you can enjoy a variety of cheese tastings as well as homemade cakes and comfort food. There is also a gift shop where you can purchase souvenirs or your favourite cheese to take home.
