The waters around Lizard Island offer some of the world's most exciting fishing in the world, particularly during Black Marlin season from September to December. With a tag and release policy, your chances of catching one of the legendary 1,000 pound 'Granders' is probably the best in the world.
Lizard Island is also home to the renowned Black Marling Classic during October. It's recommended you book early during this time as it is extremely popular.
Outer Reef Fishing
Just 50 minutes from the island, this area is home to Tuna, Mackerel, Mahi-mahi, Trevally, Sailfish and even the occasional small Black Marlin. Quality fishing tackle is provided.
Inner Reef Fishing
Just a 15-minute boat ride, there are three reef systems that offer a wide range of fish including, Trevally, Mackerel, Queenfish and a number of other pelagic species.
Light Tackle Fishing
Most of the light tackle fish caught are of eating quality and can even be prepared by in-house chefs. The Island also operates its own luxury vessel, the 'Fascination III' which can be chartered for full or half days.
Please be aware that fishing is not permitted in 'Green Zones' off the Island.
Surrounded by fringing reefs and the crystal waters of the Great Barrier Reef, Lizard Island is renowned for its snorkelling and diving. With half and full day reef experiences available, the Island's purpose-built dive boat which visits inner and outer reef dive sites and the famous Cod Hole.
