This two day tour packs in as much of Fraser Island as it can and showcases some of the island's best natural attractions including the world's most amazing highway 75 Mile Beach, 4WD-ing along the beach and a visit to the amazing Coloured Sands.
You'll also enjoy a dip in the Champagne Pools, float down the fast flowing waters of Eli Creek, spot sharks and dolphins off Indian Head and even snap a picture of the Maheno Shipwreck. Ideal as an introduction to the island, this two day tour is also a great way to get to know your surroundings on an extended stay.
Day 1: First stop is a walk to beautiful Basin Lake along sand tracks - get up close and personal with the resident freshwater turtles in this gorgeous little dune lake. Next is Central Station - no trains or whistles here - just peaceful, ancient rainforest and the reminders of a former, once bustling logging camp. Walk along the banks of Wanggoolba Creek - a silent flowing creek with lush green rainforest and rare king ferns... it's Mother Nature at her best! Check out the towering, red satinay trees in Pile Valley - a rich sub-tropical forest... real giants! Last stop for the day is Lake McKenzie, with its white sandy beaches and crystal clear waters. Picture perfect Lake McKenzie is even prettier than the postcards. Enjoy a refreshing afternoon swim before heading back to Kingfisher Bay.
Day 2: An early start to explore Seventy-Five Mile Beach, the world's most amazing beach highway. Eli Creek is a great spot for a refreshing dip on a warm Queensland day! Float down this fast-flowing freshwater creek - which pours out 80 megalitres of water daily - to the seaside. The Maheno Shipwreck washed ashore during a cyclone in 1935, this rusting wreck is one of Fraser's most iconic photo stops. With all the colours of the rainbow (well just the reds really) the vibrant sand cliffs of The Pinnacles Coloured Sands is another favourite photo stop. Climb to the top of Indian Head for awesome beach and ocean views... look out for sharks, rays and migrating humpback whales (Jul - Nov). Chill out in the bubbling ocean rock pools - known as the Champagne Rock Pools, before the return trip!
