Designed in a music theme, ms Zaandam is a spacious ship offering maximum space for guests and displaying a variety of music memorabilia including guitars signed by The Rolling Stones, Queen and Carlos Santana.
As with other Holland America ships there are an excellent selection of cabins ranging from the attractively decorated standard interior and ocean view staterooms and a number of suites and mini suites all the way to the top of the range Neptune and Pinnacle suites. Guests in these suites have access to the exclusive Neptune Lounge, a quiet place to relax or watch a spot of TV. Refreshments are served throughout the day and a concierge is on hand to make dinner reservations or shore excursions.
There are two pools on the ship including one with a retractable roof for all year round swimming. The gym has a sensational view overlooking the bow.
Entertainment is varied throughout the ship with a dance trio playing in the Ocean Bar, a pianist playing in the Piano Bar and a combo playing easy listening music in the Crow’s Nest while a String Quartet plays light pre-dinner music in the Atrium Bar. To keep in touch with home head to the Explorations Café and use one of the computers. You can also keep up with the news in the world with the defaulted copy of the New York Time.
The main dining room on the ms Zaandam is the Rotterdam Dining room which offers a two storey dining venue at the aft of the ship. In keeping with other Holland America ships ‘As You Wish’ dining is available to all guests, while the traditional early or late seating is also available.
If you want to try your hand in the kitchen, join the Culinary Arts Program. Often guest chefs will be onboard to teach you all their culinary secrets.
