Suva, Fiji's capital is on the south-eastern coast of the big island of Viti Levu. Suva is the country's political and administrative centre as well as the major port. Suva and its urban surrounds are home to half of Fiji's urban population, and it is one of the South Pacific's largest and most sophisticated cities, housing the University of the South Pacific, the fascinating Fiji Museum and many interesting colonial-era buildings. It's a multicultural city with many mosques, temples, churches and cultural centres. The Roman Catholic Cathedral (1902) is one of the city's most prominent landmarks. The waterfront area is very interesting, and the Suva Municipal Market is a must-see for visitors for its exotic fruits and vegetables, kava, fish and seafood, and spices. It has an exciting multicultural flavour, with vendors selling brightly coloured Indian sweets and savouries, and fruit drinks from glass tanks.

The newest ship in the P&O fleet, Pacific Explorer is the sixth ship to join the P&O fleet and will sail from Sydney in May 2017. Offering 34 cruises to 23 different ports, the Pacific Explorer will be the largest ship in P&O’s fleet. Recently refurbished in 2009, she will receive the P&O treatment in 2017 with a new look and fantastic changes in dining, entertainment and recreation. Measuring 260m in length and with a gross tonnage of 77,441 GT the Pacific Explorer can reach a maximum speed of 21 knots, even when at its 1,997 passenger capacity. Offering debut cruises from Sydney, the Pacific Explorer features 14 decks and will visit the Pacific Islands, Sydney, Moreton Bay, the Sunshine Coast and Melbourne. The large ship feels like a floating resort and its uncrowded decks provide a touch of luxury. Offering warm and inviting interiors, the upper decks are glassed-in to provide plenty of natural light and an connection to the outside world.
Unlike the buffet dining of traditional cruising, the Pacific Explorer has replaced this with The Pantry, a new concept in dining offering fresh food areas such as a delicatessen, Mexican cuisine, fish and chips, Pan-Asian food and elegant Italian options. There is also a cellar door offering wine tastings and the famous Salt Grill by Luke Mangan. The excitement continues with the poolside movie screen and two show lounges which will feature sports games, movies, comedians and Australian entertainers. The ship also boasts a nightclub, live entertainment venues, age-appropriate kids clubs and a number of expansive swimming pools. There’s also the unique P&OEdge program, featuring a zip line across the top deck and a climbing course on the funnel. The Pacific Explorer also features a day spa, gym, an adult’s only retreat and duty free shopping.
