Step back in time to the 1850s with Ballarat's recreated goldfield town of Sovereign Hill, offering 25 hectares of street theatre, attractions and part of the world's richest alluvial goldfields. Meet the characters who roam the streets and learn about the behaviours and prejudices of the time with entertaining demonstrations. You'll also have the opportunity to shop, visit Red Hill Mine, pan for real gold and learn about the discovery of the Welcome Nugget, a 69kg gold nugget the second largest ever discovered.
The night sky is then transformed with the multi-million dollar sound and light spectacular, Blood on the Southern Cross. Depicting the events of the Eureka Rebellion, the dramatic battle between the Government forces and local gold miners is retold with the opportunity to combine the show with a two course dinner option on Main Street's Charlie Napier Hotel.
