Mele Cascades

Departing from Port Vila, you'll travel through the largest village in Vanuatu, Mele Village, before arriving at the base where aquamarine pools signal the beauty that awaits you. Traditional village land owners will greet you and if you are not visiting as part of a tour, you will be required to pay a modest admittance fee. You may choose to relax by the pools or maybe even fish, however most are keen to begin the short trek to the case of the falls.

Mele Cascades

The trek takes between 15-20 minutes and follows a small, winding path up to the falls. A little steep, the climb isn't particularly strenuous however there are a number of natural stairways so a basic level of fitness and steadiness on your feet is required to ascend safely. Shoes must be worn, however keep in mind that you will be passing through shallow pools of water as you walk up so ensure your footwear is appropriate.

Along the way, take some time to digress to the lookout to enjoy amazing views of Mele Bay and Hideaway Island and photograph the cheeky local children. As you ascend, incredibly clear water sparkles in pristine blue pools and upon reaching the top, you are rewarded with beautiful tropical gardens and the amazing 35m falls. The pools at the base of the waterfalls are the perfect place to cool off and there are plenty of spots to explore before making your way back down.
