Located midway between Cairns and Townsville, Mission Beach is a picturesque seaside town made up of the 4 formerly separated villages of Bingil Bay, Wongaling Beach, Mission Beach and South Mission Beach. Set on a 14km stretch of pristine beaches, Mission Beach is surrounded by mountainous rainforest and offers a relaxed and laid back charm despite its constant growth in popularity.

Just north of Mission Beach, development has started on Garners Beach and Brooks Beach however the main town of Mission still seems to remain the most popular with holiday makers. Mission Beach is also famous as the home of the unique bird species, the Southern Cassowary. A rare bird, sightings are most common during the spring breeding season however Wongaling Beach features a large 5m statue of the Cassowary.
