The Waitomo & Hobbiton Experience full day tour departs daily from select Auckland hotels and from the Sky City Bus Terminal. Hop on board the comfortable coach to enjoy great commentary from your guide through the stunning countryside of Waikato and King Country regions. Throughout the journey you will have free WiFi access however, the scenic views may lure you away from your devices.
This New Zealand day tour will travel through the town of Matamata and on to the private farm where the Hobbiton village was created for the filming location of the Hobbit & Lord of the Rings movies. While at Hobbiton you will learn how the village was changed from farmland into the Middle-earth. The Mill, Hobbit holes and the Green Dragon Inn are still standing and you will be able to wander through these areas with your guide to take memorable snapshots. After your tour of the Hobbiton Movie Set you will enjoy a delicious lunch at the Green Dragon Inn.
Travel through the lush countryside to Waitomo which is home to the world famous Waitomo Glowworm Caves where you will be guided through the underground caves on unique 45 minute tour. Throughout the glowworm tour you will view amazing limestone structures and see how stalagmites & stalactites are formed. The Waitomo Glowworm tour includes a gentle boat ride in the Glowworm Grotto where the sparkling glowworms can be viewed right above you.
After a fantastic day of exploring a small part of the New Zealand North Island on the Waitomo & Hobbiton Experience you will return to Auckland or Rotorua on board the comfortable coach.
