Getting to Marlborough

Christchurch is the international gateway to Marlborough, however getting to Marlborough from Christchurch requires a four and a half hour drive along State Highway 1 through Kaikoura and Seddon before reaching Blenheim and Picton. Although this is a scenic and enjoyable drive, there are a number of domestic flights available from Christchurch to Marlborough if you’re short on time. Another excellent alternative is the TranzCoastal rail journey which offers stunning countryside and sightseeing of the Kaikoura Coast and Marlborough.
