The main city of Manawatu, Palmerston North is located approximately 2 hours from Wellington, the international gateway to the region. Getting to Manawatu is an easy 2 hour drive on State Highway 1. The other main road network which runs through the region is State Highway 3, making getting around a breeze. There are plenty of scenic driving routes in and around Manawatu, however if you’d prefer to let someone else take care of transport, there is a main rail line that runs between Wellington and Auckland, stopping in Palmerston North.
