North Borneo Steam Train with Lunch

Experience an unforgettable day on the North Bornea Railway on this North Borneo Steam Train with Lunch Tour. Be taken back to the colonial days of the past and take a journey on the Vulcan Steam Locomotive built in 1896 and is powered by firewood, one of only a few trains in the world to use this method of power.

The train departs Tanjungy Aru Railway Station at 10.00am on Wednesdays and Saturdays only and returns at 1.45pm. Your journey includes a 45 minute stop at Kinaurt where you can visit the Chinese Temple and a 45 minute stop at Papar, where you can visit the local market. After your stop in Papar a sumptuous and traditional style Tiffin lunch shall be served on the train. Your meal is served in stackable metal containers offering a selection of Satays, Chicken Briyani, Prawns, Vegetables and Fruits

The train has 5 carriages in total, each can sit 16 passengers. The carriages are named after towns along the way Papar, Kinarut, Tanjung Aru,Putatan and Kawang. The carriages all have a washroom and are cooled by fans. Your journey weaves through 134km's of scenic countryside, including paddy fields, rivers and villages.
