Getting to Lizard Island

Enjoying a stunning location on the Great Barrier Reef, Lizard Island is the northern most island resort in Australia. Located 240 km north of Cairns, the below map shows all 1,013 hectares of National Park, beaches and lagoon.

Flights are available daily to Lizard Island from all major Australian cities via Cairns with Virgin Blue and Qantas.

Getting to Lizard Island

East Air
Connecting flights operate between Cairns and Lizard Island once daily departing Cairns General Aviation Airport.

Reef Watch
Departing from Cairns, there are a range of charters available to Lizard Island which take 60 minutes.

Baggage Allowance
Passengers are allowed one suitcase with a maximum weight of 16kg and one small carry-on item of hand luggage with a maximum weight 4kg.

What to bring to Lizard Island

During the day casual resort wear is appropriate with smart casual attire required after 6.00 pm. Suitable footwear is also required should you wish to walk along the beach or island.

Tips for travelling to Lizard Island

Check in is available from 3 pm however if your flight arrives before then, we recommend carrying a 'day bag' with a few essentials as change rooms and showers are available in the Departure Lounge.

Credit card details are required upon check in to set up room charge accounts. All major cards accepted and there are limited foreign exchange and travellers cheque facilities.
