For first time divers, Hamilton Island offers complimentary introductions to scuba diving in the Sails Pool each day. A great way to ease yourself into the world of scuba, we highly recommend booking in advance as spaces fill very quickly. If you're keen to get out and explore the ocean, there are introductory courses that include everything you need such as gear and equipment, instruction and two guided dives. If you have more than a couple of days on Hamilton Island, you can even spend 3-4 days taking a PADI Open Water course of Advanced Diver course.

If you're an experienced diver, there's plenty of diving expeditions on offer that visit a variety of locations and dive spots. Bait Reef Marine Park is a popular Great Barrier Reef dive site that is home to manta rays, turtles and a range of marine life as well as a variety of terrain including swim-throughs, underwater canyons, walls and coral gardens. There are also combined dive and snorkel day trips which visit three amazing dive sites and include a 3 hour guided snorkel safari visiting Chalkie's Beach and Whitehaven Beach. All day trips include gear, drinks, snacks and a buffet lunch.

If you prefer to stick towards the waters surface, snorkelling is still a great way to discover the amazing coral and marine life and there are also a number of snorkelling trips available including the Turtle Discovery, Reef Ryder, the Edge Sail and Snorkel as well as Sunsail Yacht Charters.
