Dunk Island

Located just 4 km off Queensland's coast, half way between Townsville and Cairns, Dunk Island is made up of 75% National Park. Renowned as the 'Island of Peace and Plenty', Dunk offers a wonderful peaceful and private island holiday escape but also offers a great range of facilities and activities.

Dunk Island is a stunning island destination renowned for its pristine beaches, dense rainforest, swaying palms and vast array of unique wildlife. Surrounded by the World Heritage listed Great Barrier Reef, the crystal waters that surround the island are teeming with a colourful variety of marine life and live coral ideal for snorkelling. Three quarters of Dunk Island is covered in flourishing National Park which is not only home to a wide variety of unique flora and fauna native to the area as well as over 150 bird species.

The island is also home to the Ulysses butterfly, an iconic symbol of the island. Characterised by a spectacular electric blue colour, the butterfly is one of Australia's largest and most beautiful butterflies with a wingspan of up to 10 cm.
