Hervey Bay is approximately 500 km south of the Tropic of Capricorn and enjoys a subtropical climate shared by most of Queensland, earning it a reputation for beautiful weather practically year round. As a coastal region, the climate is moderated by sea breezes due to the area's proximity to the water.
Temperatures range from 23-32 degrees Celsius during Summer which falls between December and February, 18-28 degrees Celsius during Autumn which falls between March and May, 13-26 degrees Celsius during Winter which falls between June and August, and 17-28 degrees Celsius during Spring which falls between September and November. Whilst the weather and climate can be more extreme inland, Hervey Bay weather and climate is cooled by south east trade winds.
Weather is generally fine and mild with a pleasant climate and sunny days perfect for enjoying the fantastic natural environment and outdoor activities so abundant on Hervey Bay. However it is worth noting that during the height of Summer, Hervey Bay can experience some very hot days making it advisable for people to be wary when outside and exposed to the sun. Unprotected skin can burn in just a few minutes and it is recommended that visitors make use of hats, cool clothing and sunscreen to protect themselves from the sun.
