Beach

Surfers Paradise

Possibly the busiest and most popular beach on the Gold Coast, Surfers Paradise still enjoys a relaxing atmosphere and plenty of natural beauty despite its popularity. Perfect for swimming, there are always a great range of activities on off and the nearby shopping and dining options make for a fun and easy day out. Conditions are usually quite good for surfing and beach also plays host to night markets every Friday.

Main Beach

Located to the east of the Nerang River, Main Beach is surrounded by The Spit in the north and a peninsula that stretches to Surfers Paradise to the south. Home to historic bathing pavilions that have been converted into a snack bar, Main beach also enjoys a surf lifesaving club and a number of al fresco cafes nearby. The surf is visible from the car park making it easy to judge whether you'll need your surfboard, your bathers or a fishing rod. From the jetty you can also hire a range of water equipment or just enjoy the views.

Broadbeach

Picturesque parks line the foreshore of Broadbeach and the ample shelters, picnic areas, BBQs and children's playground make for a the perfect way to spend the day. Enjoy the views along the walking paths, browse the nearby Kurrawa Park markets or shops or catch some surf. Conditions are generally consistent but if there's little on offer on the coast, this stretch of beach almost always offers clean left and right handers.

Mermaid Beach

Just south of the centre of town, Mermaid Beach enjoys a central location and is less crowded than Broadbeach and Surfers Paradise. Ideal for families, there are plenty of sheltered picnic tables, bike tracks and a children's playground and the smaller swell makes it safer for swimming.

Miami/Nobby Beach

Miami and Nobby Beaches are both ideal for relaxing as they are uncrowded, offer plenty of BBQ and picnic areas and are safe for swimming making them popular with families. Sunrise on the beach is a stunning sight or stroll to the top of the cliff and enjoy breathtaking views of the coast.

Currumbin Beach/Bilinga/Tugun

Located in the Gold Coast's south, Currumbin, Tugun and Bilinga Beaches are popular with families for their relaxed atmosphere and great range of facilities including surf clubs, patrolled beaches, small surf and even rock pools at Currumbin.

Kirra Beach

Kirra Beach is the Gold Coast's most famous surf beach with plenty of waves to challenge experienced surfers yet smaller waves breaking closer to shore for beginners. Although waves are good all year, the surf break is very popular during cyclone season as it enjoys solid east and northeast swells.

Coolangatta & Greenmount Beach

Greenmount Beach at Coolangatta and Rainbow Bay are the only north facing beaches on the Gold Coast. The sheltered conditions make them ideal for swimming and with Snapper Rocks just a short walk away, you might even spot the humpback whales during winter on their annual migration.
