Located in the Fraser Coast region of Queensland which also incorporates nearby Bundaberg and Maryborough, Hervey Bay Airport is the main airport servicing the seaside town of Hervey Bay. Located approximately 10km southeast of Pialba, the airport is a relatively new facility after an $11.5 million upgrade to a new terminal and runway extension opened in 2005. The new facilities ushered in jet services and saw the airport named Queensland's fastest growing passenger airport in 2006 with passenger numbers close to doubling.
Hervey Bay Airport is serviced by three major Australian airlines including Virgin Australia which operates flights to Sydney, SEAIR Pacific which operates flights to Lady Elliot Island and QantasLink which operates flights to Brisbane in partnership with Sunstate Airlines. The airport is also home to a number of convenient onsite facilities including a visitor information service, ATMs throughout the terminal, an accommodation services guide, baby change facilities, public amenities, baggage trolleys and a café.
Hervey Bay Airport also offers a convenient range of onsite parking options with 198 public car spaces located just 100m from the terminal. There are also 29 long term parking spaces right next to the car hire area at the arrivals section of the airport. The public carpark is available for both short and long term stays but is unsecured while the long term car park offers fenced and security patrolled parking. The car park is free for the first hour and then charged at a range of $2.20 for up to 2 hours, $13.60 for a maximum 24 hour charge and $84.80 for a week.
