Emerald Airport

Located in the Queensland Central Highlands, Emerald Airport is a regional airport situated on Springsure Road just 6km south of the centre of town. Managed by the Central Highlands Regional Council, the airport caters for aircraft of all sizes and types including Dash 8 Q400s and Fokker 100s. The airport features a total of two runways, one an asphalt runway measuring 1,900m x 30m and a gravel runway measuring 926m x 18m. The airport has also recently undergone a $7.7 million upgrade to extend and refurbish the terminal including the introduction of a new flight information system displayed throughout the terminal.

Emerald Airport is serviced by four of Australia's most recognised regional airlines including Virgin Australia Regional Airlines who operates flights to Brisbane, QantasLink who operates flights to Brisbane in partnership with both Sunstate Airlines and Alliance Airlines as well as Brindabella Airlines who operates a mining charter to Townsville. The airport is also home to a range of services and amenities including public and disabled toilets and showers, baby change rooms, public phones, tourism information and a kiosk offering hot and cold drinks and light refreshments.

For transport both to and from the airport as well as in and around Emerald, the Emerald Airport is home to a taxi rank outside the terminal and a number of car hire companies inside the terminal including Budget, Avis, Hertz and Thrifty. Located directly outside the terminal, there is also a public car park which offers quick and easy access to the airport. Parking is free for the first hour with each additional hour charged at $2 with a maximum 24 hour charge of $10.
